Monsanto Frankenfoods Take Aim at Wheat
July 23, 2009
Monsanto is dusting off its wheat research and making a new effort to turn our wheat crop into one of its Frankenfoods – a serious cause for alarm for anyone who wants to eat normal food.
“The U.S. wheat industry has come together to call for new technology investment, and we believe we have game-changing technologies – like our drought-tolerance and improved-yield traits – that can meaningfully address major challenges wheat growers face every season,” Carl Casale, executive vice president of Monsanto’s global strategy and operations, said in a news release.
And therein lies the problem, Monsanto only cares about solving wheat farmer’s problems, not producing quality of wheat for people to eat.
It is beyond pathetic that multiple pesticides can be spliced directly into the DNA of food. This is not a technological advance, it is a grand experiment on our food supply with no turning back.
You would be hard pressed to find a company with a more evil culture than Monsanto, a company that has legally restructured itself multiple times to avoid future liability for all the damage it has caused (PCBs are one case in point).
Does anyone trust such a monster with our food supply? Unfortunately, FDA management and Monsanto have a wonderful revolving door employment policy.
Of course, Cargill has teamed with Monsanto for maximum delivery of Frankenfoods around the world. Two birds of a feather. I will never buy anything either company has anything to do with, including Cargill's dietary supplement ingredients (like glucosamine derived from Frankenfood corn and widely sold in the market as a vegetarian product - what a joke).
